Gifts

When it comes to gifts, my views have drastically changed in the past year…

I am very blessed to have caring people in my life. If you’re reading this there is a high chance you’re one of them.

I’m incredibly grateful for every gift I’ve received over the years. Each one has been a thoughtful gesture that I cherish.

However, during my effort to live a minimalist life I’ve come to realize two truths:

  1. I simply don’t need any more things
  2. the most meaningful gifts are often intangible

Going forward

I kindly ask for you to hold back from getting me anything material.

Instead, I’d love a gift of your time, some good food, or a shared experience instead of anything material. A day adventure, lesson, or baked goods will bring me so much more joy than any kitchen appliance.

Alternatives

I’ll make it easy for you.

Here are three specific things that always bring me joy.

  • Good food
  • Dollarama or Staples gift card (perfect for teaching supplies)

If you’re ever unsure, just ask me.

And please, nothing substantial.

Why do this?

My values are changing. I now really value having a clutter-free life with less possessions. It’s a wonderful way to clear my mind and live with more intention.

Maybe this won’t stick. We’ll see.

But I have a feeling that it will.

Thank you!
